New Rules: Ancient Wiring – Igniting Authentic Communication in the Digital Age

As humanity hurls itself deeper into the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there is an emerging tension between our rapidly expanding technologies and the rudimentary physiological limitations of human beings.  Although the world around us is transforming at lightning speed, our human “design” is the same as it was when our species evolved hundreds of thousands of years ago on the continent of Africa.

Fundamental to this design is how we communicate.  Almost every part of our anatomy is geared towards this goal.  It is what has helped us to build community and persevere throughout the millennia.

Fast forward to today and this tension between the new and the old, specifically as it applies to communication and the limits of our human abilities, is felt every day from leaders around the world.

Across all sectors, they are being called on to communicate more frequently to an increasing number of audiences, on an increasing number of platforms.  From back-to-back virtual meetings and presentations, to company-wide town halls, to panel discussions, podcast interviews and conference keynotes, today’s leaders are pushing their human design to its limits – and it’s not working.

This dynamic and interactive talk will describe the tension between the new rules and our ancient wiring, and share essential insights and practical solutions which represent what every leader of the digital age must know about communication in order to both survive and thrive in today’s technological and plugged-in world.
